Salem Canneries Begin Operations SALEM, May 23 VP) First pack ing operations for the 1032 season in the Salem canneries will g3t under way this week with a short . run on gooseberries. No gooseberries have been contracted for and packers said they already had purchasd a supply ample to take care of their needs. The prices for gooseberries range from two to three cent. The straw berry pack will be the lightest for many years, and many growers de clared that they would not attempt to harvest their crop.
