If elected to this office, I promise to devote my entire time and energy to fulfilling ALL REQUIREMENTS Of the office, both INSIDE and OUTSIDE duties. My supporters are business and pro fessional men and their, confidence in -me Is' why I am a candidate for sheriff. L. H. BRAMWELL. 6rl8-l t. h. IL ntAMAVKLL tsxiUiki . 1IIS VDfcAS ON TAX COLLECTION' It nos been reported to me that taxpayers of the county believe, and say, that if nominated and elected to the office of sheriff that i win rutn lessly foreclose on delinquent tax property. None' but 'an- insane er fjon would assume that position. Without collection of taxes, the coun ty, will become bankrupted to mali ciously and ruthlessly drive farmers off their homes because of unpaid taxes Is fully as futile. My conten tion has been all the time that the 6fflce of sheriff has now become a financial Job, wherein wisdom, pa tience and reasonable enforcement must rule. I contend that farmers should be allowed to pay less than half a yettr s taxes' at a time in other woras on a reasonable install ment plan until delinquencies are caught pp.. To collect taxes for coun ty operation, and yet not exercise a Roman tax collector's merciless prac tices, is tne jod neiore cne enerin oi this and any other county for some years to come. I believe I am capable of being firm and reasonable at th3 same time, and to help solve the county's financial problem along the lines suggested above. . B. degree from the University of Oregon School of Law In June, 1931. Mr. Millard's student record is a superior one and it Is the consensus of opinion of the memberu of the Law School, Faculty that ho is one of , the best students that we have gfftfllftixdd In recent years. He possesses a sterl ing character, thorough .'habits of legal analysis, and he Is a conscien tious and reliable worker. ' Before coming Into the Law School he had been a court official for sev eral years and I think that because of his greater maturity he gained much moro out of his law school career than does the average student. I am confident that Millard will be a credit to tho University and to the legal profession and, therefore, I have no hesitancy In recommending him highly to any law firm that might be interested In adding a young man to Us staff. Very truly yours, (sd) WAYNE L. MORSE, Dean. We are publishing Dean Wayne L. Morse's endorsement of Mr. Millard because it could not come from high er authority or from one in a better position to know. It Is from th2 place where a large law firm, desirous of adding a capable man to its staff, would go in order to get the most reliable Information concerning de sirable material. Mr. Millard Is 31 years of age, born and raised In East cm Oregon and comes of sturdy pio neer stock.
