PK9 Three "Railroad Journey" Tq Far Corners -Of Earth Feature of Dinner Held Last Night A "raroad-Journey" to the far cor ners of the earth, closed the year's ac tivities (rfv the Young Women's Educational- auxiliary, at u banquet last, night at 6:45 at the La Grande hotel, The "Sleeping Car," a one-act. play by. William Dean. Howells, was. the main feature Qt the program, and. the entire event carried.; out an; appro-,! priate motif. About 00 women, attended the ban-, quet which was served at small: tables lii the main, dining room at the hotel, each of which was decorated' with a centerpiece of rose buds. At each place the menu card was printed on regular menus, such, as are used- In dining cars, and the nut cups were miniature black, suitcases covered with bright stickers from, different, ports, of the world. i Mrs. F S. Lyons was elected presi dent tor the coming year, Mrs. Glenn Wagner vice president; and Mrs. Homer Leffel; secretary, following the report of the nominating commlttae, Mrs. H. E. Dixon and Mrs, Sherwood ; Williams, during the business meet ing which preceded the program. Mrs. A. W.. Burnett, outgoing presi dent, presented, a resume, of tho year's work, and Mrs. Lyons outlined rf.her- platform- for the coming year. Next year's programs were, announced by the chairman o the program, com mittee, Mrs. O. E. Sting and; will be gin on Sept. 13. v "The Sleeping Car," which . was given In the. ball room, waa cleverly presented, with the star arranged to resemble the aiBlo of a pullman.Noar. The. talkative occupant of the, car, Mrs. Roberts, who was rushing to. her home In Boston to greet her brother whom she had not seen since child hood, was portrayed by Miss Eileen Morelock. Her aunt and traveling companion was Miss Beatrice Younge. The brother, Wiliis, was. played by Miss Mas Stearns: and the husband, Mr. Roberts, was portrayed by Mrs. Mary Heassler. T,he.
