Fri3ay, ftpril 22, 1932 County Grader Working on Ladd j J Canyon Roadway u By Mrs. Charles Gninily -- -i (Observer Correspondent) LADD CANYON (Special) The county grader was at work here Tues day grading the Ladd Canyon mar ket road again, .The renters of telephone line 14 gat together recently and repaired the line all the way to La Grande. ,'Mrs. William Banton and Mrs. L. W. Drumsmlth both have been quite 111, but are rapidly improving now. The water is still very high, some of the fields being entirely under , water. it is going to be late oy tne time some of the crops can be planted due to the hinh water. Georgo Tilton, of Lostine, was an overnight visitor Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Vounseu, ' The two young sons, Francis and Donovan, of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Y. Beale, entertained a number of young people at their home Sunday eve ning. Kermit Ragaln was the hon ored guest of the evening. He was here over night from Portland. He Is a real musician and had arrange ments made to Join a troupe of mu sicians who are to play for all of the Fox theatres from Portland to New York. It is needless to say that there was plenty of music at the party and also singing, as he has a trained voice and is a lovely singer. The latest meeting of the Get-Together club was at the home of Mrs. C. Y. Beale. After the business meet ing, Mrs. Henry Ewin and Mrs. Roy Munsetl's names were drawn to fur nish some sort of amusement for the day. They each had an interesting contest. Then Mrs. Henry Counsel l's nanio was drawn to receive the "gift dox as tney can it, wnicn is a new feature each member contributing a hand-made article. It was very much enjoyed both by the receiver and the donors as many new ideas are ex changed. Mrs. Beale served some dainty refreshments. In a recent news item concerning the meeting of the Ladles' Alt! so ciety the name of Mrs. Karl J. Btacklond was Inadvertantly omitted as being one of the hostesses. She was a co-hostess with Mrs. Mc Daniel and Mrs. Borkgren. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Love, who so lately came from their honeymoon in California, were given a surprise serenade at their home Monday. All the neighbors and many of their friends gathered and went en masse to their homo. An hour was spent In conversation and in becoming ac quainted with the new member of our community. As the Introduc tions were mnde, each person whs labeled with his or her particular object in life.
