PeD. 19 VP) That the price of storage pack eggs hue been set on the basis of the price lifted at Portland by the local co-ops , Indicates that the various co-operative marketing Interests along the Pacific slope look to E. J. Dixon,, gen eral manager of the local body for leadership in the important game of getting the money for supplies. : ;The fact that New York extras were priced at 20c doz. storage pack, which means processing and new cases, re flects a price of 10c for current of ferings for fresh consumption. Talk of higher prices on eggs hero appears more or less of a joke Inasmuch as those doing tho loudest talk havo been found to be selling to 1c doz. below what the local co-ops have been quoting. If anyone . was asking or getting an advance generally, it could not be found after a thorough Burvcy of the local situation. Receipts of eggs are seasonably , liberal which means a growing sur plus which is being moved into stor age. Talk of a shortage cannot be confirmed after a survey. Absence of strict enforcement of the butter grading and branding law Is considered resnonslble for the ln- I creasing call for low grade cube but ter here while top scores are Just fairly steady. j Better feeling In the chicken mar ket Is reported. Wholesalers report killers more anxious to secure sup plies. Most of them are paying lo ; above their quotations. There remains a very good demand in the market , for . dressed turkey hens with lc advance named in the price. Extreme Is now generally 19c for top quality although a few birds went, a fraction higher. Toms are generally up lc with a top mostly around 18c lb. First spring Iambs reported here sold quickly at 16-18c lb. Veal is not quite so firm but hogs are steady. Yearling lambs and old stuff appear steadier. First regular offering of new hali but was reported in. Sales were made around 24c; lb. Portland. Some troll salmon are due within a few days. It Is said. . Very slow movement of Columbia river smelt Is reported. Various prices rule with the best stuff at $2 pet 60 lb. box. Only a Bmall supply or I coast. 1 ' Stormy weather in Central and Southern California, are ..affecting fruit and produ.ee shipments from that territory, it is Impossible to get out oranges and the - lettuce move ment is curtailed. Notes of wholesale trading: Weather conditions are against arti chokes in the San Francisco bay re gion. Prices firmer as a result. I Mexican tomato market Is very slow here with prices in a wide spread. Hothouse rhubarb movement Is steady; also prices. Onion soles locally are principally for. boilers and No. 2 grade. WOOL REPORT BOSTON, Feb. 19 VP) The Com mercial Bulletin will say of the wool market tomdrrow: "The wool market has flattened out noticeably this week. Interest Is chiefly in tho finer or lower grade wools, but only, in small- volume. Prices are barely steady. . ' . 'Foreign wool markets have been a bit Irregular this week, with less eager buying and quotations barely firm. i "The piece goods markets appear i to do dull except for a limited de mand in fine dress goods and a mod est call for low count yarns for knit ting purposes."
