Mr. Salisbury Is still confined to his bed. Stake Board ' The stake board of the L. D. 8. church will meet tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 to complete plans for the an nual Green and Gold ball of the M. I. A. All stake officers ore expected to be present. The meeting will bo held under the leadership of David I. Stoddard,, of Baker, president of the entire stake. ' The date . of the ball has been set as Jan. 20 and, it will bo held at the Recreational hall. Ex-La Grander Robbed . - ' W. E. Hendrickson, attendant ati a Centralla, Wash.,, service station, was held up and robbed last Satur day, according to word received here this week. When in La Grande Mr. Hendrickson was with the Bowman Hicks Lumber company. Mr. Hend rickson was bound tightly by the holdup man and when he was re leased, his hands were literally black from lack of circulation. . . ; Sister Dies Miss Alice Marquardt, county health nurse, has received word that her sister died in a Chicago hospital Thursday evening., after a month's Illness. Her condition has been cri tical most of that time and the news was not unexpected. Miss M;rquardt was unable to go to Chicago for fu neral services. - Club Meet The Countrywomen's club met yes terday afternoon at the home of Mrs, Lena Gekeler near La Grande. Mrs, Mabel McCalllster was elected presi dent during the business meeting; Mrs. Lena Gekeler, vice president; Mrs, Wesley Bofcd,. secretary-treasurer; replacing Miss Minnie Holman, retiring president; and Mrs. Lucille Hamann, secretary -treasurer. Representative Col ton, Utah Re publican, was named chairman of the subcommittee and authorized to ap point it. Janney proposed two laws: one for a mechanism to stabilize silver and the other to mako deposits of gold and silver of equal value as legal tender.
