Graduation Week At Normal School To Be Brilliant. Graduation week at the Eastern Oregon Normal school promises to be one of the most brilliant periods of the school year with dances, picnics and breakfasts attending the com mencement and baccalaureate ser vice. The. festivities open Friday eve ning when the Women's league plans to entertain with a dance at the Nor mal school auditorium. Dancing will begin at 9 o'clock. An all-college picnic," sponsored by the freshman class, is scheduled for 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, and the senior breakfast will be hed Sunday morning Just preceding the baccal aureate services. Graduation exer cises at 2:30 in the Normal school auditorium will be followed by the president's reception to the seniors at 4 :30 to which the parents and alum ni are Invited In the music room. The week's activities will be closed with 'the alumnl-senlor dinner at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening at 'the La Grande, hotel. ; i . 1 - i Military Ball To Be. Robert Carey and Howard Glenn are assisting on the committee, and the publio is invited to attend. Mrs. Fred H Kiddle . Entertains Club Mrs. Fred H. Kiddie entertained at her home lust night for the Eastern Star Social club. The evening was spent Informally and refreshments were served by the hostess at the close of the meeting. Plans for a picnic, with members of the Eastern Star and their fam ilies invited, were made. July 6 is the date chosen for the event which is to be held at Pine Cone, i Arrange ments for 'attending may be made with Mrs. O. May Noyes. Lions Auxiliary Making Favors Extensive plans are being made for the entertainment of , the wives of fia ' Reach for a LUCKY instead visiting Lions during the state con vention to be held In. La Grande on June 24 arid 25,- Mrs. E, D. Towler, president of the club states. Several dinners, teas and bridge parties are being planned and the members of the Lions auxiliary met yesterday af ternoon act the home of Mrs. George Tlss to moke party favors. After an afternoon spent making favors, Mrs. Tlss served refreshments. Mrs. Nolan 8klff will entertain the group Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. I Sweepstakes Will Be Held Thursday Regular sweepstakes will be the day's entertainment for women at the La Grande country club on Thurs day, the regular women's day, reports Mrs. John Thelsen, tournament com mittee chairman. Varied .plans are being made for the entertainment of a group of women from Walla Walla country club who will play In tourna ment here on Thursday, June 11,. Many of the women are planning to accompany their husbands to Walla Walla Sunday, when the men play there and It is probably that special activities will be planned at the coun try club in La Grande for those not going to Walla Walla. Zaugg Sisters Entertain Group Misses Liza and Zlna Zaugg enter tained at their Mt. Olen home for the Gleaner Olrls of the M. I. A. last night at 8 o'clock. The evening was spent informally, and the hostesses served refreshments at a late hour. Mrs. Sadie Bull will entertain next Monday evening at the home or Mrs. A. L. Piano Pupils In Recital Monday The music of Italy ' and Spain formed an Interesting program for the recital in wmcn Miss tuiaa- Amnony and Miss Ida McMeekln presented their piano pupils last night at 8 o'clock at the La Grande hotel ball room. Preceding each of the five proups a short description was given of the type of music represented. An Italian and a Spanish tableau were presented by the pupils bofore the music of the two countries was heard by the large and appreciative audience which attended the affair. The stage was decorated with a Span ish shawl and Italian hangings, and offered an appropriate background for tne musicians, an oi wnom were arcs sed In costumes typical of the coun try whose music they were playing. , In the Italian music, three types were represented, those pieces in spired by Venice which were played by Dorothy Bergln, Norman Thacker, Billy Hough. Kathleen Williamson, Nola Rae Most; and Helen Melville; folk music, by Nancy Lee Lmdsey. June Smith. Frances Clark, Donald Johnson and Lucille Thompson; and Italian composers played by Ola -Mae Hough and Robert Hogensen. Marian Boyles, pupil of Miss Mc- MecKlii. gave a reading, "u lniei, by T. A. Daly, in Italian dialect Music in Spanish style and music by Spanish composers were the .divis ions of music of that country, and the musicians were dressed some as gypsies and some as senoritas with mantillas.
