Mrs. P. S. Robinson will offer a varied group of musical composi tions for piano, 'cello, Hawaiian gui tar and violin at the La Grande hotel ballroom at 8 o'clock and Miss Mar garet Mlchaelson; will present her piano students at the Sacajawea Inn, In the small ballroom, Friday eve ning at 8 o'colck. Mrs. George Blrnle held a recital last night with nine pupils presented. Trio numbers will add an interest ing note to the recital which Miss Mlchaelson Is planning. Bible Searchers Planning Picnic Games and a program which fol lowed the business meeting were en joyed at a meeting of the Bible searchers class ox tne rresDyierian church which was held at the. church yesterday afternoon. Mrs. L. A. Ken nedy. Mrs. David Wylle and Mrs. S. Dietrich were hostesses. Virginia Wylle sang a song, play ing her own accompaniment on the I piano, and little Dale Fallows re- cited. Mrs. J. K. Wright led the de- I votions. ! Plans were made for a picnic at Riverside park on July 15 and the next meeting wlllbe held on June 17 at which time Mrs. Turner Oli ver, Mrs. Robert Eakiu and Mrs. J. K. Wright will be hostesses. Refreshments were served by the hostesses late In the afternoon. , Surprise Party At Riverside Park v A fried chicken picnic dinner was given last night at Riverside park as a surprise to celebrate the birth day anniversary of Miss Mabel Mor ton. After the picnic supper, Miss Morton was presonted with a shower of gifts. Quests for tho event were Miss Amanda Zabel, Miss Helen Moor, Miss Mabel Doty, Miss Mae Stearns. Miss Bertha Wallsinger, Miss Alice Klippel, Miss Alta LUUe, Miss Kath eryn Moran, Miss Edith Darby, Miss Mildred Pierce, Mrs." R. F. Over 160 parents and friends were present at the recital In which each of the nine pupils gave an excellent performance. Appearing In the recital were Frances Furgason, Jean Davles, Mil -dred Green, Betty Vogel, Stella Jean Ingio, Patricia Longfellow, Frances Alexander, Jean McKennon and Frank Tyler. An Interesting part of the program was the brief presenta tion of tho life and music of Edvard Or leg, a Scandinavian composer of the last part of the 10th century. . i- .-- Mrs. James Orieal Entertains Club Twelve members of the Helomala club were guests of Mrs. James Oneal yesterday afternoon at bridge. Prizes were received by Mrs. George MoVey and Mrs. Jack Oliver. The rooms were decorated 'with lavender and white lilacs and the color scheme was carried out in the bridge table appointments and In the two-course luncheon which was served by the hostess late in the af ternoon. A no-hostess meeting will be held In two weeks, and It will be the last of the season.. Lodge Dance Held At I. O0. F. Hall A large group of Odd Fellows, Re- bekahs and their friends attended the dance given last nignt uy tno Past Noble drands club of the Ro hekah lodee at the Odd Fellows hall. A group of guests came from, Elgin for the danco, which followed tho regular meeting of tho Rebekah lodRe. with dancing from 0 until midnight. Music was furnished by Mrs. La Vere, Tom Oswald and Mr. Spencer, who play the violin, piano and ban Jo, respectively. Another dance will be held In two weeks at the Odd Fellows hall. . The Rebckahs. at their business meeting, were -informed of the death of Mrs. Etta Wines, a former mem ber, who died In Portland Tuesday. Appropriate ceremonies were planned in her honor. Smith. -V.'-''- Choral Society ' Enjoys Outing i The Choral Society of the Zlon Lutheran churoh -entertained at a "hamburger feed" and plcnlo at Hll gard last night after their regular practice. They met at the home of Fred Matthes for practice, and then drove to HUgard where they enjoyed the evening around a campflre. Twelve were present for tho event. : The Choral society will assist Rev. Edwin Bracher, the nest minister at the Zlon Lutheran church, at his first services next Sunday. - . Past Matrons To Present Program Tho Past Matrons club of the East ern Star will present a program for the benoflt of tho Eastern Star at a meeting next Wednesday evening.
