May 1 W) Ap proximately 23,000,000 bushels or wheat were delivered to the Farmers' National Grain corporation, today in what traders said was the .largest single day's grain transaction in Minnesota, history. The wheat, representing payment of approximately $18,000,000, was de livered to the Farmers' National Grain corporation, federal farm board ally, as May futures contracts come due. , ' Little of the money goes to farmers, grain men sold. Owners of the grain for the most part were grain commls-' slon firms and terminal elevator com panies which purchased It previously from northwest farmers. Ore., May 1 (Spe cial) Water In Wallowa lake now stands at 9 feet above low level, ac cording to the Record -Chieftain. Last year at this time the gauge registered 10.40 feet, and the max imum height last spring was 14.85 feet. However the rvyi-off from the mountains started April 7 last year and by the last of the month much of the lighter snow had melted and the water- had reached the valley. This spring the run-off has not started. Temperatures have been mild bivt not high, and a glance at the mountain ridge shows, the great expanse or unoroRen snow cover ing all ithe upper regions. This gives promise of much more wp.tr in the lake than wae ever gathered In 1030. The spring snow survey, the last oi xne season, was unisnea dv uien Jacob, acting watermaster, last Friday. It shows fi feet of snow at Aneroid and in Lake basin, and 1 n feet on upper Bear creek, with neavy water content in au areas. No comparable quantity of snow Is found In any other mountains in Oregon east of the Cascades, and many ranges report no snow at all. The spring run-off haa cleared the mountains already, and . there is fear of shortage for Irrigation and stocK use. The paper sold the Investigation had gone to a head with the filing of a report in the United. States dis trict court at Los Angeles by W. O. McDuffle, receiver In equity for Ridh fleld, and the announcement that Richfield would default Interest pay ments due today on Its bonds.
