Affairs of the Black Marble and Lime
company are about the samo now
that they were a year ago, it was
shown by reports made to stockhold
ers at their annual meeting in the
court house Monday afternoon, states
the Record-Chieftain, Oi the 2634
shares outstanding, 1551 wero repre
sented in person or hy proxies.
President C. A. Bingaman made a
financial statement and said . there
still was some hope than tho bonds
previously outhorlzed could be sold,
which would permit the company to
pay off all present debts and also
would leave working capital so that
the plant could be put in operation.
Directors wero elected as follows:
J. A. Burleigh, C. A. Bingaman, 8. D.
Keltner, H. McGoldrick, E. D. Peal,
William Roulet, J. W. Rodgcrs, George
K. McDonald and H. A. Davldhlzar,
All these men havo been associated
with the management of the prop
erty in the past. They discussed af
fairs of the company at some length
after the stockholders had adjourned
but did not elect new officers.
L. A. Btringham and Fred M. Brace
came from La Grande Monday to
meet tho new directors of the Black
Marble and Lime company to whom
they presented a plan for leasing and
operating the plant. Their plun is
upprovd in the main and there re
mains only the details to be worked
out. Both men havo been with the
company before and are familiar with
the plane ana nope co return to en
terprise to start work before long.

been moved during the past two
weeks, this week being hardly up to
last week In point of volume. The

An ordinance to prohibit the use
of roller skates within the established
fire limits of the City of La Grande,
and to provide a penalty for any per
son violating any provision of this
ordinance.
THE CITY OF LA GRANDE DOES
ORDAIN A3 FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That no person shall
use or travel upon roller skates upon
the sidewalks within the established
fire limits of the City of La Grande.
Section 2. That ony person violat
ing this ordinance shall bo punished
by a fine of not more than $25.00, or
imprisonment in tho city Jail not
more than 10 days, or both such fine
and Imprisonment, at the discretion
of the court.
Section 3. Whereas, tho safety of
pedestrians upon the sidewalks with-
