July 15 (VP) With the heat wave a thing of the past, the Kentucky public Monday went on about his business, but Kentucky farmers were troubled by a more serious matter than mercury readings. Drouth, withering the crops so carefully tended during the spring,, continued to damage tobacco, corn, wheat and other products of the Blue Grass state. Scarcity of water for cattle' also conspired to make the farmer's lot hard, and in some sections the prec ious fluid has to be transported long distances for the use of farm animals. Cattle were also being fed on com mercial feeds, since the grass in pas tures had withered, denying them their usual subsistence. Cases of shortage of drinking water for human beings were less general, but some communities experienced that alsq.
