The meetings of the poultry
short course being held at the Ru
bier .high school under .the' spon
sorship and direction of I'rofessor
Don Hie wart, "tiave kept up a splen
did attendance and, from all re
ports, the meetings havo been
worth while. Nine lessons were In
cluded In the orlginul course, the
last oneto be .given next week.
Subjects discussed have been feed
ing, housing, diseases, baby chicks
and culling.

j Phoebe Williams, formerly of
Raker, but now residing In Klam
ath Kails, will be very sorry to
know that Mrs. Williams Is suffer
ing from spinal meningitis at her
home there. Mrs. Williams, who is
a nurse, had hud a patient suffer
ing from the disease and, shortly
aflor being released from tho case,
contracted it herself. The last
word received by friends was that
she was some better. Mrs. Wil
liams visited In the valley as a
guest of Mrs. John Wagoner of
Summervllle. Sho was prominent
in Hebekah, Kusl.ern Star and
other fraternal circles in JOasturn
Oregon.

Kollowing their custom, the La
dies' Aid society of Alicel gave
their annual Christmas parly to
the' children of that section of the
vnlleyV yesterday nrternoon, 'with
Mrs. Tom Wallslnger, Mrs. Hay
Fuller and Mrs. Louie Slandley as
the hostesses. The children of the
Aliri'l and Valeria schools had been

; Oatmeal Mucmoun "
Two cups oatmeal.
Two cups brown sugar.
Two cups flour.
One cup melted butler.
One cup cocoanut.
One teaspoon soda (scant).
One-half teaspoon baking pow
der. A pinch of salt.
Two eggs.
Drop yolks of two eggs Into tho
melted butter and sugar anil beat
well. Add tho cocoanut and salt.
Dissolve soda in one-fourth cup
hot water. Add oats and one and
one-half cups of flour -with the
baking powder sifted, adding lust
one-half cup flour sparingly. Add
the whites of eggs well beaten.

reading's, supplementing a' varied
and clever program of tho other j
schools, whose pupils were all able !
to be present. While the whole j

on the two trees a gift for each
child present. Tho afternoon con- 1
eluded with the serving of a lovely
tray lunch by the hostesses.
