' something of an anniversary party
Biven .yesterday at Itivcrsido park.
jJt has been eighteen years since
, Mrs. A. S. Anderson started this
! department and there were present
, yesterday at least a dozen of those
, who had been members con
j tenuously since its Inception and
they were given especial honors,
following the lovely luncheon
which was served at one o'clock a
picture of the group was taken.
The work of this organization
through the years bus become
known throughout- Sunday school
circles of this denomination and
the picture was made following a
request coming from church publi
cations. The regular business meet
ing was held and at its close He v.
Walz conducted tho devotionals. A
delightful social hour concluded
the afternoon.

Happy Day at Park
Yesterday was a happy day for
the Woodcraft juveniles, for the
senior organization planned a pic
nic for them at Hlvel-sldo park,
and the younger people and tho
older folks, too, atlended In goodly
numbers. They had the entire day
at the park, with a fine dinner at
noon. Games of a whin variety
and swimming were tho sports
which occupied the greater part of
che time.

Well selected containers go far
toward keeping foods in good con
dition. Covered glnss or enrthen
waro dishes nro, excellent for stor
ing food, both raw and cooked.
Soft fruits like berries keep in bet
ter shape. If they ar taken im
mediately from the box in which
they nro marketed und spread on
a platter or plate Keep them In a
cool place but not in the refriger
ator unless a cool cellar Is not
available. Whenever fresh fruits or
vegetables ar kept in a refrigera
tor they should bo stored in tho
warmest place.

tho year. In tho first place, buy ati
little as posslblo and thus do awuy
with the possibility of left-overs.
Make it a. custom to use all left
overs promptly. Cooked vegetables
that have been dressed simply with
butter can be used In vegetable
salad or reheated In a cream sauce.
This changes the dish enough to
multc It acceptable at tho nexc
meal. Vegetables or meats that
have been prepared in a cream
sauco will spoil very quickly. They
should be placed in ono of the
coldest parts of tho 'refrigerator;
and used within 24 hours.
Bread and bread crumbs require1
extra cars during tho summer
months. Hretul molds quickly and

good plan to scald and sun tho
bread container onco or twico a
week. It's not wise to try to keep
buttered toast more than a day.
Tho butter soon becomes rancid
and tho toast is ruined for crumb

rancid if stored in an air-tight
container. Put them in a glass jai
and stretch double thickness of
cheesecloth over tho top. Hold tho
cloth in placa with a rubber band.
It seems wisest to buy flours nnd
cereals In small quantities while
the weather is hot. The cereals loso
their crispness and tho flours uro
apt to become Infested with flour
weevils. A two weeks' supply Is suf
ficient. Ready - to - servo cereals and
crackers can be crisped if placed In
a warm oven for 20 minutes. They
piust be thoroughly oooled before
serving.
