The matter is now before the U. S. government for con
sideration. What' is needed chiefly is government endorse
ment and assistance, as typified in the letting of mail con
tracts. Sponsoi-s of the proposal say that they will go ahead
with their plans if the government agrees to send mail by

', Two monster dirigibles, sister ships to the. ones now being
built by Goodyear at Akroii for the U. 8, navy, would be used.
They would carry nearly 100 passengers and between five
nnd ten tons of mail. The dirigibles, it is estimated, could
