Mrs, Ida Hendrii'ks of Vt. Madison, ' Iowa, who has spent the. winter at the Ktandlry home, a niece of Mr, and Mrs. Ktandley thought to Blvo Mr. Htandley a surprise and invito . In all the relatives. She let Mrs. Btandley in on the secret and also Mrs. Louie Htandley and long ago the Invitations were sent out. Early Tuesday, the guests began to arrive from vurlous localities ' and before noon around half a hundred people were at tho old Htandley home for the occasion, Mrs. Hendricks, Mrs. Louie Htund , ley, Mrs. C. C, Welch and Mrs. Aug ust Erlckson prepared a splendid dinner, rousted chicken, with all tho trimmings one could think of. This was served at noon, with tho long table seating about thirty each time. On the tables were the pret ty birthday cukes, ono a' tuwer cake with the decorations of red . cundles, and also bouquets of flow ers, garden flowers and cut flowers which had been brought or sent to - Mr. Ktundley. Tho afternoon was spent visiting and In having numerous pictures of the group taken. Mr. Htandley was born In Scot land county, Missouri, oiv May 7, 1843. Me received his education there and In 1804, together with his parents, two bruthora and a sister, joined a train of - covered wagons which '..& Into this valley.
