tho Southern territory has shown
steady expansion of output from
mines that have never had union
contracts slnco development, and
thut tho quantity available has
more than sufficed to meet the de
ficiency occasioned by Northern
shut downs, ' ,
In Illinois tho union got tempo
rary operating contracts, but of tho
state's 100,000 miners, scarcely

regular employment, since the mur-

ate. .

production of tho Northern territory.
