Tominyrot. Wet republicans in Oregon are like wet demo ciats in Alabama they drink as they please but vote dry. Oregon has always leen dry. Oregon will remain diy even if modification is eventually effected nationally. ' ' What probably happened to permit this stry of "rondi- lions in Oregon" was that the information was foi-wanled to ' the Star by a correspondent on a democrat newspaper in the , tate. Or by a correspondent too timid to deserve the job. Oregon is republican. In presidential contests it has leen pe : Mlliarly republican. And although its senior senator gave his name to the farm relief bill, the state ha not leen sold i.h the McNary-Haugen idea and farmers have expressed in creasing doubt of its practicability. Hoover will carry Oregon. Most responsible observers in , 'he state seem to hold the opinion that he will carry it easily, that a big majority hero is a foregone conclusion.
