Most of them will go to the polls with the sincere desire to pick the lest candidate to the best of their knowledge and belief. ' : That's a duty everyone should find pleasure in doing. Election days are tho few days of the year when equality of citizenship and of authority in government becomes an established fact. The man or woman who votes with sin cerity has done his or her part in the job of governing. The man or woman who doesn't has side-stepped an obligation and has no right to a hearing in the event that the right or wrong of an administration attracts attention. ' u , Fortunately for our governmental affairs, political condi tions have changed greatly in the last generation. Perhaps no greater proportion of people vote on election days now than liefore, but it is generally admitted that they exercise . the franchise with far greater independence, with greater in telligence, with greater discrimination. It's therefore no longer possible for anyone to "deliver" the votes of a com munity, especially in the old sense of the teim. Newspapers and party publications no longer have the power to dictate public opinion. It must be built on confidence, on truth, on logic or not at all. , For these reasons it is particularly vital to our comnum 'ity, state, and national welfare that everyone vote when they have the privilege. "Vote as you please, but bo sure to vote !" is more than a slogan it's an appeal to good citizenship.
