(present terms. The most difficult job is that of sheriff, and
Jesse Breshears has made an enviable record for himself, lie
1ias,hot posed as a trained detective, but he has leen an ex
cellent peace officer. Never has the slightest suspicion at
tached itself, to Ilreshears. lie is feared and respected by
cvej-y law violator. He is square, unprejudiced, and absolutely
honest. The' people of Union county know this and will, ac
cording to present indications, return him lo office with a
yery complimentary vote.
j., Numerous 9ther.j;cople in the court house, though not so
'much in the public" eye are almost equally deserving,. Ken
neth McCormick, county clerk, Mrs. Florence JJacon, county
treasurer, E..A. Snyrc, county school superintendent Duveto;
Proctor, assessor these officials have served well, efficiently!
Jl is doubtful if any of them will be seriously opposed for re
t'lection. All of them deserve to le returned lo office. It is
S', wonder that such capable executives for those exacting
jrourity jobs can bo had for the poor salaries we pay. Inci
dentally, W. W. Stevens, of Union, will also be up for re
election and has made a good record as a member of the I
county court. He is a good man for the job and probably:
will have no difficulty returning to office. I

selecting county officials. The business of the county is
important; its big. Jhe greatest possible elficiencv should' Mrs.
