The loss of life has been appalling and the American public has finally shown sufficient disapproval of stunt flights to cause almost a total stoppage. The navy 'department and other federal agencies which have refused fmther cot.peration in the private flights of land planes over seas are to be commended. The govern ment has been tjo liberal in previous flights. Over a hundred thousand dollars was spent in the Pacific for fuel alone in ,the search conducted by the navy for lo.st fliers. Kvery pos sible effort has been made by this government and by for eign countries to locate missing airmen. Assurances that such effort would be made was no small factor in urging planes to attempt ocean hops and the announcement thai help will not be available in the future, that fliirhts must he lti:, V(TFIt (l(Si;iC 1 K'S I'lKK.UFSS FOITlO.V One hit ml red and I welvo p.ies, 1 4 M-ctinim, two pou ik)k of news Uiint worth fifteen rent f. , h, the l.a (irn nde ohHerver' oi't'i'e were necehwiry for that newspa per "I'rocreKM lahtiou" of Aimust ill.
