creasing market roads should certainly lend approval to this

Cove road, the extension of Hunter lane all with a fine
macadam surface provides very necessary links in a trans

The I'nited States 'eterans' I'ureaii, which was oigan
ized following the war to handle govel iinient insurance and
compensation, has now shifted the bulk of its financial handl
ings from insurance to banking, a.s u result of the authority
given World War veterans to borrow on their Imuuis certifi
cates. The bureau is now conducting a banking business of
enoinioiis propoi tions, according to the director, Iliig. Gen.

Hanks and bureau agencies throughout the couutry have
loaned more than fifty million and the bureau itself has loan
ed some thirteen million on these adjusted service certificates
a total of over sixty-three million and it is estimat.'d that
probably three hundred million will have been loaned for
mer soldiers and saMms within the next five veals undi-r
