you would hardly start out on a big campaifin of hate just
because their loyally, patriotism, and ignorance seemed lo
find best expression in egotistical titterings. When it comes
down to a question of boasting and displaying wealth and
superiority, Americans have the present championship be
cause they have the goods but turn the tables a bit and our
acquaintance with the French, English, Italians, et al, lead
us to believe that they would lie able to equal our American
mark with one jump lo say nothing of bettering it. Not
all of them are that way, of course, and not all Americans
are guilty of vulgar display of riches and world dominance.
Kilt that doesn't stop the critics any more than does the
knowledge that a few hypocrites in a church doesn't make it
ineffective as a force for good. The difficulty with most
Europeans contrary to their propaganda so generously
spread throughout this country by our "young intellectuals"
is rooted in jealousy of Americans and of American
progress. If they really want American standards of pros
perity, they might spend less Unit singing their hymns of
hate and more in studying American methods and American
efficiency.
