Dr. McCallum and others have shown it to

. The lime companies all over the United
States have enjoyed prosperity for genera
tions. The larger plttnts have grown from
small beginnings,: havihg largely expanded
by reason of a poi tioivof their profits go
ing into extensions, arid have paid ade
quate dividends regularly, ' which can be.
verified by published records.
Large quantities of lime and other lime
stone products are used annually in Oregon
by the building trades, paper mills, flour
mills, manufacturers of spray materials,
paints, soap, disinfectants. Too numerous
are the uses of lime to list them all, if in
deed any one individual could name them

The state of Oregon produces such a
small quantity of lime that the Federal
Government does not list it in its published
records of production for the Nation,
which it compiles yearly, giving the. out
put by states.
Oregon's supplies of lime are largely im
ported from an island in the Puget Sound
in the state of Washington and from Brit
ish Columbia, and smaller tonnage from as
far distant points as Missouri and Texas.
