There is no question that the recent decision of the United States supreme court, upholding the president's power of discharging federal employes, put great power in his hands, which might be abused. The peril, however, has probably been exaggerated. The decision does give a president dangerous Power over federal commissions and boards created by congress and, in theory at least, working independently. The Interstate Com merce commission is a good example. Teh re are numerous' bodies of this type whose usefulness is gieatly lessened ifi their membei-s hold their jobs only by grace of the president wno appoiiiicti them, they will tend to lose their individual ity and independence and merely reflect the views of the! executive.
