dustry has shared In the prosper
ity. Not only have more passeng
er cars been Bold than ever be
fore, but there has been a- corres
ponding gain In motor truck use.

new achievements In tho develop
ment of motor bus service.
The assurance of new motor rec
ords for 1926, which was Indicated
by factory production figures two
or three weeks ago, has coinn, It
Is perfectly safe to say, as a Bur
prise to most of tho loading execu
tives. ; When 1926 established Us
hitherto unprecedented record of
4,154,269 passenger cars and
trucks made In United States fac
tories. It was not generally pre
dicted that the American public
could absorb an even groater num
ber of cars In tho following 12
months. It has been done, how
ever, and If ono thing moro than
any other has contributed to this
result. It Is doubtless due to tho
comparatively low prices prevail
ing for the various types of sub
stantially built closed models. .

cars and trucks, exceeding the out- J
put for tho same period ono year
ago by 368,047. Production in
September wns well up to the
monthly average of tho year and
Octobor Is expected to bo heavy.
November and December will
doubtless show some decline. A
monthly average of Icbs than 300,
000 for the last four months will
be sufficient to create tho new
record, but .tho avorago will bo
hlghur than that. In the month
of August 379.111 passenger cars
wore made, being the third best
month of tho year. Truck produc- .
tlon was 45.283 making a total I
of 424,394 motor vehicles for that
month. Passenger car production
tor the first eight months was 12
per cent ahead of lust year, and
truck production increased by
slightly more than 7 per cent.

of the national automobile chum

increase ot 1,927.141 over the cor
responding period of 1925, equiva
lent to 10.8' per cent.

left their homo at Uharpvllle, Pa.,

along the northern route to tho
Pacific coast. They will go from
Oregon to California and through
tho southern stules, Including
Florida, expecting to return homo

kitchenette and refrigerator, which
closes tightly, are at tho other side
of Vho car and when they aro op
ened form u table. A two-burner
stove for cooking is also a part of
the equipment, besides a radio,
places for guns, fishing poles und

gave to Mr. Reynolds this morning
was not the only ono they caught

inch rainbow trout was also land
ed. ' Although they only spent a day
and half In Wallowa county they
were much -Impressed with the
scenery there. They were only ul
tho lako half a day and did not
unload their boat. Fishing there
would be too easy Mr. King-says,
as the fish seem so plentiful. Ho
had plenty of fun landing tho two
