when guests come. But, since we all do it,
there ia danger of monotony.
It is to escape that, and escape work, that

Cream ahortrning until it may be beaten with a
spoon; add augur gradually beating until mixture is
creamy. Scporatc the white and yolks of the eggs.
Beat yotka until thick and lemon colored; add to
Creamed butter and ttiRar ; brat vigorously; thm
add flour and liquid alternately, stirring the while
until batter it smooth; and fold in the well beaten
whites of eggs and flavoring. Bake in three wetl
grenard layer cake puns in a fairly but oven (360 F.).
Use your favorite tilling.
Walnut Loaf Cake
Prepare tlic Master Recipe, adding one hnlf cup of
finely chopped walnuts to the cake bntter before
folding in the beaten whites of eggs. Buke in a
greased loaf cake pan obout 45 minutes in a mod
erate oven (3S0 ' F.).
Golden Cake
Prepare the Master Recipe, using four egg yolks and
one whole egg. Add these wen benten to the creamed
butter and nunar. Bjke in kwf (350 F.), or in
layers J6U F.).
Small Fancy Cakes
Prepare the Master Recipe. Pour batter Ihto a well
greased, shallow baking pan. Buke from 15 to 20
minutes. Cool, then cut into fancy shapes and Ice.
Chocolate, pink, and white icing will give variety,
and the tops can be decorated with chopped nuts,
cocoon ut, and candied fruits.
