Cut bacon in tiny pieces nnd cook in soup kettle until crisp. Add onion cut in thin slices and cook over a low fire for f minutes. Add remain ing vegetables pared nnd cut in small dice, rice, salt, pepper and boiling water. Cover and simmer until vegetables are tender, about 1 K hours.
