maintenance of way department
has accomplished, among other
things, the re-ballasting of ihe main
line track between La Grande and
Huntington with Walker pit gravel.
Walk'-r pit gravel Is a very high
grade ballast from a pit 40 miles
north of CtiKililla on ihe t'matll-la-Spokane
line. The gravel from
the La Grande to Huntington bal
lasting was hauled over three
mountain grades a distance of
some mile..
