Whether or not one school benefits from the changes effected is an unimportant matter to the jre.i- .eral public. Greater service at lowest possible cost to the .-slate is the chief consideration of the sensible Oregon citi- zaiy in coiisidermg the whole question. Duplication of effort is a difficult thing to avoid in two state institutions of this kind, just as it is' difficult to avoid the same thinjr in every community throughout the Mate. The board is right in seeking to make the schools distinctive in the courses offered and degrees to which those courses lead, but a complete division is impossibk. Realise of the fundamental nature of education. No mat ter what a student wishes to make of himself or fit himself j,lpr by education, if the final result is to be creditable to himself and the stale, the foundation must be practically the same in all instances. Ii a young man wishes to become an engineer or grain expert or stock ram her, he must be given the same broad ness of fundamental training that would be advisable had he chosen literary work, business administration, or law. 4ithough the world is Incoming more specialized with each imccecding generation, the primary object and benefit f higher education remains the same -the ability to think, the fibility to analyze, the ability to compare, and the ability to base judgment on the experience of others and of out -pelf. If college or university training accomplishes that goal in its contact with the youth or our stale, it is a suc cess regardless o( petty considerations and full worth its cost to state and individual. K it fails, those considerations remain equally insignificant and irresponsible. Since I drained the crankcase and filled up with the new Zcrolene 'F' for Fords, she starts quicker, has more power, and seems to go a little farther on a gallon of gasoline." Zerolcnc "F" for Fords gets to all the parts where oil is needed, especially the wrist-pin bearings and the upper half of the cylinder walls, which are frequently "oil-starved" when an unsuitable lubricant is used. Zcrolene "F" for Fords is made by the Standard Oil Company's patented vacuum process. It deposits a minimum of carbon. Yet Zcrolene "F" for Fords costs not more, but less than most of the special Ford oils on the market. A Ford is an A-l transportation invest ment. Protect your investment by proper lubrication.
