Men Km ployed III .Mill The mill ut Lone Tree, seven miles east of La Grande, makes a specialty of manufacturing a 'I types of box shooks but also turns out finished lumber for shipment. About 45 men are employed when tho mill Is running ut full capacity. These men operate saws, planers and other modern eq'J la ment in tho plant. Tho machinery is powered en tired by electricity, with individ ual motors tu furnish power for each machine. Tho lumber conii'S to tho plant sawed in rough boards. . These Arc run through tho plan ers, trimmed and faced und ure then sawed and re-sawed into tlu proper dimensions for the boxes und urates. The plant turns out u type of box for neurly every sort of article shipped from one point to unothcr. Tho majority of the demand fur boxes comes from the fruit grow ers, cherry crates, peaches, pruned, all kinds of berries und then the citrus fruits, orungea und lemon. Boxes ure also supplied to what is called the commercial market the canneries und packing plants. Mill Fni ploys :.
