The road was washed out last week Monday by a tremen dous cloudburst which did won ders in the way of ijiovlug rocks and curin, states u local uewspu per. few rods above the Wullowa river bridge the grade was jfofh ed by a cut which carried out all eurth clear down to bedrock. At several places further up the hill, the sides of the old grade were sheared -off sharp, leaving an ab rupt drop of several feel to the rocks. Kor u mile or so, the road way Is strewn with huge boulders .swept down from the hills by the torrunt. The upper part of the road, the new grade constructed jointly by the county and icnp farmers un der tint suupervision of J' It- Han es, escaped Injury,' a-s it Ilea high enough to get comparatively Utile wash from Hie hills and ravines. The ditch at the side of the m w grade was filled and the roud was strewn with course gravel and small rocks, but there was no real damage. A county road crew, under S. I. Whit more. The cloudburst Is described by Mr. Wood, whose home is near the top of Hie hill, as a most ex traordinary .storm. It was not any more ruin, nor did the water simply come down "In sheets." H descended In what seemed to be a solid mass and each hillside was a raging river.
