The pumper would be of the
latest dtsit?n and would add great
ly to the efficiency of the fire
department, besides timklwr it
possible to fight two tires, should
they occur, at the same time. Ac
cording to the city manager, the
pumper would provide npproxt-
iimtely i(Mia ptiionf of wuter per
minute, which Is if rent ly in ex
cess of the present pressure, which
is especially low on the north
side of the city. The pumper
tends to inereuse the available
pressure while the present gravity
system loses force from hydrant
tun to tho noxalti of thts hose.
The plan of tapping the Irriga
tion diteh that runs beneath the
tilley between Jefferson and Adams
u ven ties by means of manholes
would provide mi utmost unlim
ited supply of water for the
pumper for combatting fires in
the business district. The taps
would be made on Depot, t'hest-
nut. Kbit and Kir anil would m
similar to manholes, with a depth
of about io feet. Alt that wilt be
necessary - would be to drop the
end of the hose in the manhole

intersection, bright red in color
and beming the words, "Kep to
the Right," are here on approval
and if they prove satisfactory wiii
