dition of the present system which,
because of flow of- sewage, not
properly sterilized und odors re
sulting therefrom, causes a great
nuisance, according to farmers who
have to contend with this condi

The. following report on the con
dition of the present sewage dis
posal plant has been presented to
the city commission and bus been
determined to be corrected in ev
ery detail:
"The sewage disposal plant con
sists of a single story septic tank
and a chlorinating basin. The sep
tic tank. 7(1 by 80 feet In super
ficial dimensions has an effective
depth varying between 4 and 7 feet
below the lip of the outlet whr
and a storage capacity approximat
ing 21.000 gallons. In operation

Covell, Coos county slayers, wero
hanged at tho penitentiary this
morning.
Peare dropped through tho trap
at 7:53 and was pronounced dead
1 1 minutes later. Covell dropped
through at 8:34 but the fall failed
to break his neck and ho -was
strangled to death. He was pro
nounced dead 0 minutes after
wards. Officials said the hangings wero
the most grewsome soon here In
years.

commutation of the death sentence
to life imprisonment late yester
day, refused to extend executive
clemency to Covell and Peure.
The governor said ho hud studied

the wish that the governor would
