((Crnians Compliment Women Ity Classing 'I'.iem as .Married ItKHLIN (Al') Should a maid en lady call herself "Fran" or "Fruuleln This question is be ing much debuted in (ierman wo men's clubs, suffrage societies, and woineu'sjirofessionul organizations. The custom: Is becoming more and more established of referring to women beyond their first bloom as ''Fran," whether they are mar ried or not. The reason for tills is purl ly the fact that in Kuropc there Is still some prejudice against young woimn venturing out unes corted. Hy calling a young wo man of marriageable age "Fitiu," the O erman gentleman feels that lie Is paying her the compliment of assuming that she is married and hence freo from molestation. I'artly, too, the women them selves have favored tho destgnu ilon "Fran." as they feel .tlmj the spinster is somewhat of an object of ridicule. They argue that as soon as a hoy grows up he gets the designation "llerr," whether lie is married ur not, then why. should a difference be made between married and unmurricd women? i:.n;l.vm u:ts coNTUAtTS T( l.MI'ltO i: Allt HFFFNSi: LONDON (AC) Contracts have been placed by the ah ministry for ten new airdromes In various parts of the country.
