THE OLD HOME TOWN

By Stanley
A wife can love a husband and still be secretly amused
by the way the public honors him.
One of the magazine experts says rolls contribute to
i domestic bliss. We are inclined to wonder if he spoke
especially of bank rolls. .
i Altruism, according to a La Grande man, is exact
knowledge concerning the side of the bread that is but
tered. Possibly that doesn't constitute the highest type
of idealism but it's the theory on which many people work
these days.

When a man does all he
can, though it succeeds not
well, blame not him that did
i it. '

Increased His Estate $2010
With A Net Saving
Analysis of a life insurance policy of J. J. Cart'
(whose name is used with permission):
He had a 20-Pay Life policy bought in 1909 for
$5,000. The amount payable at death was $3000,
or in five more -years he would have an insurance
estate, paid up, of $5,000.
The cash value of ' the ' policy, or its savings,
amounted to $2010. Taking this cash out and plac
ing it at 7 interest, the income will purchase a
new straight life policy of $5,000.00 yet he has
the $2010 in cash IN ADDITION to his protection
of $5,000, giving a paid up estate of $7010.
He increases his estate $2010 immediately and
saves over $600 in premiums which' would have to
be paid to mature the old policy.
