Ion-, suffering-, gentleness, goodness, fullh, meekness, lcuiicruncv against such the re Is no Iuwa Gul, C; 22, 23. i Our Pioneers . Spftly sing the old, old sune. Gently let memories' coverings fold around the old boys and girls who today are jnce'tiiig in the city park in the annual pioneer reunion, for-the ground they tread upon is hallowed ground, the thoughts they think today are solemn thoughts emanating from those who have given their, lives to reclaim a won derful country, i JAh wo hustle along the commercial avenues of life, as we elbow each other in business and hasten from our daily tasks to enjoy what, we call recreation, it is but proper to think of the long campaign of toil and hardship which maj'ked the life of every pei-son who today gathered around the! long dinner table to live again the scenes of early days in Pregon. ' Yes, the pioneer is passing, lo be sure, but with the 'passing of the earthly body will not go those cherished thoughts of their work, their deeds of valor, their self sacrifices. No nation like America can ever Forget the Jjiorjeer. , Jle.cqupjes. a place., in,, the hearts of all. i Wheelers Popularity Making a hero of Senator Wheeler of Montana will be an all-summer's job now. When he made his stand against Attorney General Daugherty he became the national figure of his paily which elected him to the senate. Then he went through prosecution supposed to be inspired by Re publicans and came out of it in very good shape. But Wheeler's career was not to end no suddenly, for now he has boiled the Democratic parly and has announced his allegiance to La Kollelte. Naturally from party politics standpoint Republican managers will soften toward Wheeler when he attacks Mr. Davis as being the "tool of the house of Morgan and a disciple of Wall Street," so the Wheeler popularity will continue all summer, provided such a move as he has just made can be called popular.
