10 miles north of Yacolt is reported spreading; over a
wide area. Property of the Clarke County Timber

SAN FRANCISCO (AP). Fire racing upon the
mountain slopes in Santa Clara county In but a mile
from the Lick Observatory on Mountain Hamilton and
is today threatening some of the observatory's out-t
buildings. The main building, housing the big- tele

PORTLAND. Ore. (AP). Gilbert Goldstrom, aged

bridge early today. - His body was found in the river
with two legs broken. He had left his home with a
considerable sum and his watch. Botfi were missing.
Officials expressed (he belief that the act was suicide,
and thought that his legs were broken by hitting the
edge of a rock.
