of the Maker Ccuntv. Chamber of
Commerce, from Senator Charles I..
.McNary, contains encouraging news
relative to the Baker irrigation pro
ject. The message quotes communi-
. cations received from C. n . rugs-
ley, acting secretary of agriculture
and from D. W. Uavis. commissioner
of the reclamnticn service. The tele
grams speak for themselves being as
loiiows:
Mr. Pugsley:
"Since, congress haH made an ap
propriation tor initiating this we are
advising the Interior Department
that it does not seem advisable for
this department to reopen the ques
tion of its feasibility, unless directed
by congress to do so.'1
Governor Davis:
"Present situation respecting the
'Baker project is that advice from
the agriculture department is expect
ed. J shall keep you in touch with
this and try to promote a decision
as I share your interest in agreeing
upon n feasible project to Oregon
