come to bo aynonomous with tho bet
ter tilings of 1a Grande, namely the
chuutauqua. In spite of rain and
clouds, there is u decree of enthusi
asm and a spirit of cooperation in tho
Bene rut campaign to make the comi
Ing session profitable and instructive.
There is a new and added zest in
the session because there is an en
tirely new company at tho buso of
Hiipplfes for talent. Tho Kllison
While talent will not appear this
year. Instead tho Cad mean Chuu
tauiia is sending out a combination
of lecturers, musicians, etc., that
should attract to the sylvan retreat in
Iliverside park, from June 24 to 29,
a great crowd of seekers of know
ledge and entertainment.
Officers, directors and members
and friends of the institution in gen
eral, are "pepped" up to uso a vut
gar expression to the holding of one
one the biggest and best chauluuquas
in the 15 years of that institution's life
in Lti Grando. Tho general arrange
ments have been completely grasped
and arranged, and there remains very
little mo rev to do at this time than to
ring up tho curtain on week from
Sunday.
Dr. Hay Murphy, supported by a
baker's dozen of directors, and they
in turn backed up by a new and en
couraging community support, havo
been working quietly but effectively
to stage great scries of lectures and
musical programs.
FUpE TRANSPORTATION
Any chautauqua pation who has
no conveyance should ro to the
Y. t.M1. C. A. comer when those
who have autos will pass by when
going to the park after seven
o'clock in the evening. Patrons
with autos are volunteering to in
variably pass this point so that
a serious obstacle, that of trans
portation, is thus removed.

The combination of lecturers and
musicians thi year is indeed a happy
headed by J. N. Tinchor, congress
man from Missouri, who is widely
known as the joint author of the
famous Capper-Tlncher bill. Mr.
Tincher is known as a real farmer
friend In congress, lie has devoted
years to the study or ihe tanners'
needs, and he has the happy faculty
of being able to tell what he knows in
a convincing and impressive manner.
Not only has ho a message for the
farmers of Union county, but he
brings something worth while for tho
businessmen, lie speaks In tho ev

the program on Monday afternoon

ing soprano and her portion of the
concert is a well selected program
that will meet with the approval of
everyone.
Tho Jano Hollyman entertainers
will open tho season's program on
Sunday afternoon with an entertain
ment that will 'be a pacemaker for
the balance of the week. They come
highly recommended and play music
that is full of pep and mirtn, and uso
a number of different Instruments
such as suxaphones, violin, mandolin.

we all will get a real treat when these
peoplo appear.
On Wednesday Lot's Pacific Sore
nnders will give two programs, one

evening. Banjos, mandolins, guitars,
violins, nkelels and everything that
goes, with such instruments will make
an entertainment to please the taste
every one. Their programs con
sist of many melodious times of the
Hawaiian type thut are rendered Willi
a charm and grace that will carry
one back to Honolulu, and will with
out doubt be one of the most pleas
ing programs of the entire week.
On Thursday afternoon and night
the "Marine Maids" will render the
entire program, and any musical or
ganization thut can fill two programs
must necessarily have somo pleasing
entertainment.
These young ladies have tho nece
ssary qualifications as musicians to
hold an audiencu during tho entire
afternoon and evening programs and .
