Owing to the heavy rain Sunday
night, which amounted almost to a
cloudburst along one of the branches
of Catherine creek, the latter stream
was higher Monday than at any oth
er time this spring. It is still high
and very muddy but is gradually go
ing down again-
Lad lias Narrow Escape.
Little Ellsworth Halsey, a lad of
about nine years, had a narrow es
cape from death last Saturday on a
ranch near Union. He was caught
under -a truck and the lowest part
of the machine mashed his head into
the dirt and rolled hint over several
times. Tho boy's face and head
were badly bruised. He was brought
to the Halsey home here in Union
and medical aid summoned- Besides
the cutK and bruises there was a
slight fracture of the skull, but the
little fellow is improving rapidly and
the doctor believes that he will be
all right again in a few days.
Lorcna Trickey, the lady trick rider
who created such a sensation at the
Stock Show by her daring and skil
ful riding, was injured early Sunday
morning while exercising . one of her
horses on the race track. She was
thrown from the horse and landed
on her head antl shcldcr. The fall j
stunned her and she did not 'regain
consciousness till after she had been
taken to Hot Lake. Aside from
bruises and a general shaking up the
accident apparently was not very serious-
