.Mrs. ,1. Donald Meyers, of La
H ramie, who is spending some time in
Salem, upon visiting the beautiful
farm remembered a number of her
La Grande friends with the flowers.
In her letter describing the beauty
of the place she says: "Upon visiting
the iSaiem Tulip Farm I could not
resist sending a lot of the flowers
home. The farm consists of four
acres and there are over one million
bulbs planted thereon. It is located
on a rolling hillside" and when one
drives toward it the riot of color is
simply dazzling. Thcro are 250 va
rieties now blooming andNof course
the different varieties differ in size..
One especially beautiful variety is a1
rather small cream colored tulip with
an unusual fragrance, which is un
common in a tulip as you know.
"Mr. Franklin, owner of the farm, j
states that ho is shipping commcr-j
cially the blooms as far east as J)u-:
luth, Minnesota, and the bulbs as far
east as New York. Last Sunday it j
i was estimated that between 8,000 and
lO.OUO people visited tho farm, so you
can imagine what an unusual attrac-;

Mrs. Meyers stated in her letter
