But even with this mental picture you i hair of Clarence, nor of his huge tortoise-shell spectacles and lots of other idioisycrasies which help make him an unforgettable figure m tins production. Clarence is an ex tremely likable chap, and all because he. happens into the Wheeler l amity i just in time to prevent the family j breaking up. .Burking and biting , has set the nerves of each member on edge and the inevitable is about i to happen, when ulong comes ciar-1 ence, and with a calm word here, a i soft caress there and a clever dis play of diplomacy and tact at all times, he rebuilds the tottering house of cards into a mansion of peace and happiness. Just how Clarence does tb can not be adequately described for there is a subtle something' to it which defies description. Booth Tarking ton, however, saw it and wove it in to the famous play from which the picture was adapted. As "Clarence." Wallace Reid Jias never done any thing which quite equals his droll humor and likableness in this part. He receives excellent support from Agnes Ay res as Violet Pinney, while May McAvoy makes a sparkling suc cess in the sub-deb role of Cora Wheeler. The picture is a William de Mille production and is the first of a hu morous nature that this capable di rector has given to the screen pub lic.
