Governor Pierce has very properly appointed Judge
William Duby as highway commissioner from Eastern lj
Oregon. ; : . jj
' Who is Judge Duby ? He is a citizen of Haker county, !
a former cpunly judge, a square man in every sense, and!!
a man whose 'ability in road work has been firmly estab-l!
lished by deeds,' not; words. . ' !
;Union ;yhd Wallowa counties share in the satisfaction'!
of (this appointment for Judge Duby sees the needs and'
will act accordingly, lie will be a commissioner for the
whole state, and Jie will also , in being a commissioner fur
the whole state, not overlook that section of Oregon cast
of the Blue Mountains.
Since E. E. Kiddle's regrettable death this part of the
state has not been so well off in highway work as at pres
ent with Judge Duby as a member of the highway com
mission. Governor Pierce not only has the thanks of this part
of the commonwealth, but he is to be congratulated for
selecting a man of the sterling type of Judge Duby.
