This was the first of the stories of romance in liule kingdoms in Kurope, and no better indicationi can be had of its success than that it inspired hundreds of writers to imitat it. . Hut none of the resulting stories had the zest, the devil-may-care spirit of the orig inal, for that was written chiefly for the love of imagination the author had; it was as glamorous to him as to his readers. In the hands of a director such as Rex Ingram, who made "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" for the same motion picture producing or- gamzation, "The Prisoner of -enda has stepped out of the pages of the hook and come very much to life on the screen. Different essentially from "The Four Horsemen' as dif ferent as realism is from romance, the newer picture nevertheless has been dontt upon the same great scale and with the same faithfulness to the spirit of the written page. In every matter, from the designing of the mammoth settings winch repre sent the Castle of Zenda to precision of court etiquette, i.Mr. Ingram took charge, and the result is a mag nificently heautifu) picture. The crew, elated at the death of the browbeating captain, is disillusioned when the daughter proves herself to be just as severe und relentless as her parent. The action is intense ar.d rapid, with schooners, torpedo boat de stroyers, aeroplanes and hydroplanes taking part. The production is filled with gripping suspense, and it will live long in the memory of those for tunate enough to see it.
