pictures, knows the highlights of that
career; knows how Miss Frederick has
established hernelf Is the greatest
molional actress in the films; knows
that for sheer drnmntii' nhilitv find
! human appeal she is not excelled on
the stage or screen.
But in this photodrama, which is a
screen adaptation of Jackson Greg
ory's famous book, "Judith of Hlue
l4ike Ranch," one sees a different
Pauline Frederick, a gill in whose
character culture and 'i-efinementure
blended with the. fiery, courageous in
dependence of tt hardy woman of the
frontier. Miss Frederick as Judith
Sanford, a city reared girl from whom
higher education has not taken ' the
dauntless spirit of her pioneering
father, gives an amazing revelation
of her adaptability to ahrtost ny
kind , of churucter delineation.
,Miss. Frederick rides u bucking
horse without being a tomboy. She
makes .a big business enterprise ind
does a man's work without losing any
of the sweet womanliness that has
endeared her to the motion picture
public. The part of Judith poitrayedf
by anyone of less ability would fall
flat- As it is, Miss Frederick is re
vealed in a new light if that wcrej
possible after her lnng list of prev-j
ious screen successes. "Two Kinds j
of Women'' is a swiftly moving drama I
that makes one want to seek surcease

the beauty and grandeur of the Cal-,
ifornia Sierras, where much of the
Picture was filmed. The majesty of
the mountains and sheltered valleys,
the wholesomeness of this outdoor
ptory, is like a breath of fresh air in
a stifling room. There is not a dull
moment in the entire production- But
analysis of the picture's appeal is
hardly necessary. It is a Pauline
Frederick U-C production wholly
worthy of the name.
