Claims of J. J. Tanner, Brighton,
Mich., to the World's lung-whiskered
championship are disputed by Jack
Wilcox of Carson, Nev., who has been
g:jwing a beard since l'ee. Ill, 1881,
when he threw his razor away because
it was dull, und swore he would never
shave again. His beard is 11 feet d
inches lung, but before it was combed
and' washed recently it was 14 feet
long. Tanner's beard has been report
ed as il.feet long.

divided the country politically into two
diametrically opposed camps.
The Nationalists who are mostly
adherents of Zaghluul .Pasha, have
been demanding that the constitution
be drawn up by a National Assembly
elected by the people. The Minister
ialists, who are supporting the gov
ernment of Premier Sarwat Pasha,
and who have just won the day, have
been in favnr of appointing a special
commission fur the task.
The cnnimission already appointed
is composed of :tl membeis under the
presidency of Iiushdy I'ashaun, form
er Prime Minister. It is tu draw up
within four months a project for a
constitution which will be threshed
eiut by the Egyptian parliament which
will have the right tu amend it except
in that which concerns the preroga
tive of the throne.
The government's project calls for
Parliament to consist of two chambers.
'All the members of the lower huuse
and half the members of the senate
are to be elected by popular vote; the
other half of the senate to be appoint
ed by the executive.
The newspaper Liberty points out
that the senate, being partly appoint
ive, "will he able to check all the
whims of the majoiity of the Nation
alist representatives."
