To Republican Voters of Union County:
Regardless of any information you have received
about the1 campaign for Joint Senator, I am going to car
ry Umatilla and Morrow counties by large majorities. I
know whereof I speak for my home is in Umatilla county
near the Morrow county line and I personally know the
people and have just completed a canvas of the two
counties.
Free from the fight that is going on, the Republicans
in these two counties believe I am the man to represent
them in the state senate.
La Grande has' a senator, Pendleton has a senator
and with" rad residing at the Morrow county line Republi
cans feel this will balance up the district as it should be.
As for my standing among Republicans of Umatilla
county permit me to call your attention to the many times
in public life I have appeared before these people and
never have I been defdatedi for office. The name of Joe
Hinkle has been closely allield with development of this
sefction, and I say to the people of Union county that Uma
tilla andi Morrow counties are going to cast their vote for
their cwn man, which happens to be myself.

I appeal to Union county Republicans not to be mis
lead by statements regarding the vote of Umatilla and
Morrow counties. I want the votes in Union county and
pledge my honor that every effort in the state senate will
be given to the best service I can rdnder the entire district.
As a property owner in La Grande I am interested in re.
ducing the heavy tax burden of Union county just as I am
interested as a property owner in both Umatilla and Mor
row counties. La Grande people are many of the, my friends
and throughout Union county I have friends whom I do
not want to be mislead by the statements from Pendleton
regarding this contest, ,
Keep in mind that-Joe Hinkle will carry his homo
county, Umatilla, by a big vote, will also carry Morrow
county by a big vote and he will appreciate his friends
staying by him in La Grande and Union county.
