'According to the biographical sketch
of Mr. Ilinkle he in a Kuntuckian und
was horn in Cumberland County. Ken
tucky, Nov. 2, IHlili, and is lesccnded
from the first fcnglish tolonies settl
ing at Jamestown, Va. He came, to
Pendleton, Oregon, in March, 1884,
with his father and mother and four
brothers and grew to manhood on a
wheat ranch at the head of Juniper
canyon in Umatilla county. He was
educated in the country school at
home, the old Pendleton Academy and
the Willamette University nnd cngng
ed in newspaper work and school
teaching in Umntilln county for sev
eral years. In 1897 he was admitted
to the bar anil begnn the practice of
Inw at Pendleton whole he continued
until l!)0fl, when he moved to his ranch
near Ucrmiston, where he has since
resided and engaged in irrigation
farming and Inw practice.
He served in the legislature during
the- sessions of lfll.'l-llHo and was
prominent as chairman of the House
Committee on Irrigation und as an
able floor lender. He was married
to Miss A'n. Cnoeer M flenvor. Colo.,
Jan. 1. 181H. Mrs. HinUn is n native
daughter of Oregon nnd Is of pioneer
Cooper stock of I. Inn County. They
