Harry Treston Lewis, son of W.
E. Lewis of this city, passed on nt

dent while engaged in work for

He was bona In Wallowa county.
October 8(1, 1903 and wur 18 years,
7 months and one day old nt the
time of his, death. .
The deceased was n steam engi
neer but at tho time of the acci
dent was helping1 get the trees ready
for the rock crusher when the en
tire structure fell, a timber falling
on him fracturing one leg neur the
thigh. An operation was deemed
necessary hut he passed on before
recovering from the effects of the
accident which produced acute dila
tion of the stomach.
His body Is at tho Snodns nun
Zimmerman chapel and the funeral
will takq place Sunday afternoon at
2:30 o'clock at the Baptist church.

Although the letter was denounc

foreign office claiming it had been

proved its authenticity. It was the
lirst revelation of the break hetween
the German emperor and his vassal
king. Previously, Kmperor (Charles
had indicated bis desire for peace,

In October, 1018, he nilnounced
plans for the federalization of Austria-Hungary

the Hungarian Diet frankly admit

day or two later Count Karolyi, lead
er of the Hungarian republicans,

less revolution iu Budapest and de
clared Hungary a. free and independ
ent state. Still later the German
