Back in San Francisco's gold days a noted place hero was the Kl Dorado saloon, one of the most luxuriously-equipped resorts in America, and tne of its at tractions was a beautiful squat e piano, with fittings of silver and keys or pearl. , "When the El Dorado closed, its owner, Colonel Thomas Jefferson Chambers, meeting with reverses, sold the piano to his friend, Senator John Fay, for $750. The Senator's children John Fay, Luke Fay and Miss Mamie, learned their music on the piuno, came to love it and regard it as a part of their family, and once, when the piano tuner opened its mysteries to them, they wrote their family's name and address and Punch, the name of their dog, inside the top hoard. Finally tho piano passu into other hands, Senator Tay replacing it with a later model. oiu;e, when the childre.1 I were away . uu . eo lego.
